Welcome to Middle River Veterinary Hospital
We're excited to welcome you and your pet to our family.
At Middle River Veterinary Hospital, we provide exceptional medical and surgical care in a compassionate, caring environment. Our mission is to strengthen the bond between you and your pet by keeping them healthy and helping you address all aspects of behavior and training.
We welcome your questions and look forward to becoming your trusted pet healthcare partner.
Our Comprehensive Wellness Programs
We believe successful pet care goes beyond vaccines and heartworm prevention. Our multi-faceted approach addresses every aspect of your pet's health, from behavior and nutrition to preventive care and senior wellness.
Annual Wellness Testing
Many diseases begin without obvious symptoms. Annual wellness testing (including blood, urine, and fecal analysis) helps us detect problems early when they're most treatable.
We recommend scheduling wellness testing with professional dental cleaning, as more than 80% of pets show dental disease by age two. Regular dental care prevents oral pain, infection, and systemic illnesses.
Senior & Geriatric Care
At age seven, your pet joins our senior health management program with more frequent exams and extensive diagnostic testing. We provide age-appropriate diet and exercise recommendations, aggressive pain management, and counseling on age-related behavior changes.
Our goal is to keep your senior pet comfortable and healthy for as long as possible.
Behavior & Training Support
Many behavior problems can be prevented through proper socialization and training. Our staff helps you choose the right pet for your lifestyle and teaches you how to prevent common issues like aggression, separation anxiety, and destructive behavior.
We offer guidance on introducing new pets to your household and provide an extensive lending library of approved books and videos.
Nutrition & Exercise
Premium nutrition has significantly increased pet life expectancy. We help you choose the best diet for your pet and create appropriate exercise programs to keep them active and healthy well into their golden years.
We offer comprehensive weight loss programs for obese pets and counsel owners of pets with chronic conditions like arthritis on appropriate exercise and pain management.
Surgical Services
We offer a wide range of dental and soft-tissue surgical services. Since surgery is never routine, we provide excellent patient risk assessment and monitoring throughout the procedure.
We perform pre-anesthetic blood tests, use the safest anesthesia for your pet's individual needs, and monitor cardiac and respiratory function during surgery and recovery. Pain management and post-operative care ensure a smooth recovery.
Emergency Care
We're equipped to handle most companion animal emergencies during regular business hours. If your pet needs emergency care, call immediately so we can prepare for your arrival.
Emergencies always take precedence over scheduled appointments. For after-hours emergencies, please contact Veterinary Emergency Services in Verona at (540) 240-9266 for 24/7 emergency care.
