Dr. Kathryn Dobyns
Dr. Dobyns is our only full-time veterinarian. She grew up in Frederick County, Maryland, where her father still lives. She graduated from Middlebury College in 1990 with a degree in Biochemistry. She worked for 1 year as a Chemist at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD, then entered the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating from Cornell in 1995, Dr. Dobyns moved to Lexington, VA, where she worked as an Associate Veterinarian for 4 years. She then worked as a relief Veterinarian in several practices throughout the Shenandoah Valley and Charlottesville areas.
In August of 2000, Dr, Dobyns made the leap to practice ownership, purchasing the Middle River Veterinary Hospital. She oversaw the expansion of the facility in 2012, and she continues to strive to offer progressive and comprehensive veterinary care with a caring and supportive practice team.
In January 2018, Dr. Dobyns completed all of the requirements for the Certified Canine Fitness Trainer course through FitPaws and the University of Tennessee. She can help you develop a balanced exercise plan for your dog - plans are customized for you and your dog. She hopes to enjoy many years of fun with the little guy playing NoseWork and exploring the world. He is a very busy puppy! She also teaches NoseWork and ScentWork classes.
Dr. Dobyns also shares her home with kitty Cascadilla, a former stray, who is still adjusting to the pleasures of indoor living.
