Dr. Kathryn Cash

 

Dr. Kathryn Cash, Katie, is originally from Fredericksburg, Virginia but has lived in the valley with her family since 2016. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Horticulture in 2005 and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Dr. Cash has extensive veterinary medical experience, ranging from preventative care to complex surgeries. Her medical interests include dentistry and internal medicine. She currently resides in Mount Sidney with her husband, two daughters, two dogs and two ponies.

In her free time, Dr. Cash enjoys being with her family and horseback riding with her daughters. A lifelong equestrian, she competed on the intercollegiate equestrian team during her undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech. She is also active in her community, teaching Sunday school at Aisle 7 Fellowship in Verona. Professionally, Dr. Cash is a member of both the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Kathryn Dobyns

 

Dr. Kathryn Dobyns grew up in Frederick County, Maryland, where her father still lives.  She graduated from Middlebury College in 1990 with a degree in Biochemistry.  She graduated from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She practiced small animal medicine an Associate Veterinarian for 4 years, and then worked as a relief Veterinarian in several practices throughout the Shenandoah Valley and Charlottesville areas. 

Dr. Dobyns purchased the Middle River Veterinary Hospital in August 2000, and she was the sole owner until selling the practice to Dr. Cash in November 2023. Dr. Dobyns oversaw the expansion of the facility in 2012, and she continues to strive to offer progressive and comprehensive veterinary care on a part-time basis. 

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Dobyns spends most of her time entertaining and training her SportMix dog Wafel. She hopes to enjoy many years of fun with the little guy playing NoseWork and exploring the world. She also teaches NoseWork and ScentWork classes, and she completed the Certified Canine Fitness Trainer program through Fitpaws and the University of Tennessee in 2018. 

Dr. Dobyns also shares her home with kitty Cascadilla, a former stray, who is still adjusting to the pleasures of indoor living.
